Cabris

Sunday 31st July

We took the boys to a bouldering area outside Cabris, which also turned out to have been recently bolted for sport climbing. (Just as an aside - bouldering means low-level no ropes and no equipment and sport climbing is when the bolts where you to attach equipment are already set in the rock. It's very popular in France, but in the UK Alexander does British Trad. Climbing where you place your own equipment. There are VERY few bolted routes in the UK and he assures me that anyone attempting to bolt UK crags would by hunted down and shot. I assume he's joking... )

Anyway, one can only watch one's offspring hanging off rock faces for so long, so I went looking for other things to photograph. I found a few wild flowers and a tree.

We found this fascinating fir tree with coloured sap dripping out of it like wax.
