Valbonne and Grasse
Aug. 3rd, 2011 07:51 pmSaturday - another visit to Valbonne, and then Grasse. Valbonne is so pretty it's hard to NOT photograph everything, but don't worry, I'll only post a few here, and they're small so they won't take long to load unless you click for bigger.
Valbonne
Many of the shops are very tiny and crammed full of bits and pieces.

Grasse
Now Grasse, centre of the perfume industry, and on top of a very big hill, is also very pretty. Once you recover from the hike up the hill, and scrambling up the tunnels that go through the walls, you're in the old town where they spray the streets with perfume - I kid you not! Fine pipes stretched between the buildings mist the pedestrians with perfumed water every few seconds.
We visited the Musee de Fragonard (the artist) and the International Perfume Museum (also called Fragonard - the perfume house) which was very interesting but they didn't allow photographs.
The perfume misting. A water trough - purpose unknown - a Roman laundry I've since been told by a French friend.

No, Alexander, you can't climb the city walls!
The cathedral, inside and out, and in square next to it. The last photo is of the house where we are staying, back in Valbonne.
**
And just for your amusement - someone doesn't like reading the signs.
