Saturday
(1) Driving through northern France is a pleasure. Cars? What cars?
(2) The Hilton Hotel in Strasbourg has an excellent restaurant and makes wonderful cocktails. Getting up the next morning is a bit tricky though ;)
(3) Alexander is the same height as me? When the Devil did that happen?!
Sunday
(1) Switzerland has tunnels everywhere, lots and lots of tunnels. Hugh was tired of driving by the time we reached the longest tunnel we had to travel through beneath the Alps, so it was my turn. What an amazing experience. I think it was 10km but I'm not sure. What truly amazing scenery at each end too.

(2) The last twenty five miles of our journey took an hour and a quarter. The roads along the side of Lake Como are very narrow and winding but the views are breathtaking so no-one minded.

(3)The only downside so far is that the wifi in our villa doesn't work - at least, we can see the network if we are in the garden but it doesn't want to let us on the internet although the owner did try to fix it.
Monday
Tonight we had dinner in a restaurant where the Senora was rather scary, but took a fancy to the boys, ruffling Robert's hair and then disappearing into the kitchen to fetch a tray of freshly backed pastries which were on the house! The menu was limited, the only choice of wine was white or red but the food was excellent and I think we'll go back!
We have Sky news on the tv here and have been following the news of flooding back home. Our garage floods in heavy rain - twice in the last week - but we don't live in one of the counties affected by the current disaster, although we are only 40 minutes east of the flooded areas. Here it is 32 degrees and sunny.
